Exactly what I did too. At first, the game had no sound. I returned to desktop mode, launched it (had sound here), closed it, and returned to gaming mode. Sound was fixed. After this, the game played just fine on Deck.
Looking forward to playing. I’m trying to sideload it to Steam Deck (suck it valve). Steam has FUTA FUX FEMBOYS but won’t sell Horses? Go figure! Humble also removed the game after I received an email alert from them for it. Even if I am unable to play it, happy to support.
Day 6 seems bugged for me. I can't interact with the horse enclosure to open the gate. I've tried closing the game and reloading my save about 4 times with no luck
Just finished the game. Amazing atmosphere and some great surprises and ideas. The mosaics were annoying though and they reduced the emotional impact. The humiliation has to be felt and the mosaics basically remove that feeling imo.
What a ride. Creates the most tense, awkward and dooming sense of dread in the lowest pit of my stomach the entire play through. Wonderful to go through, experience the story and horror of it unfolding in front of your own eyes. That paddock scene, jeez. A wonderfully bizzare and grotesque game, one of the kind we don't have enough and that don't get appreciated by the masses. Anyone who likes being freaked out not by cheap jumpscares or being hunted should get this game, the atmosphere is priceless.
I'm glad the controversy at least put this game on my radar, I really enjoyed it, it's in conversation with a lot of art I've enjoyed in the past year or so and I think it uses its themes and devices really well. Absolutely nothing in here that coheres with that vague ban message, the mosaics didn't detract from the horror for me at all, and all of it was in service of theme and story.
For people who enjoyed this one, I'd recommend the book Tender Is The Flesh, which is really working in a similar space. There was a lot in here I was able to see coming but the tone and dread kept up regardless, and the moments that stood out from those fears/guesses hit really well because of it? There are some late game moments that echo earlier scenes in a way I really loved.
Mechanically, no real issues installing or playing, but I'd recommend a controller for the riding sections. Curious to dive back in to the chapter select later and see if/how much certain choices branch, but won't be bothered if they don't: being corralled would also serve the tone and story, lol.
I really hope this game does well despite the ban, it's the kind of artistic swing we need more of, and need distributed despite efforts to censor. A steal for the price and an enriching way to spend an afternoon or evening. Thank you for making and sharing it!
Nevermind - I figured it out. It was day 1 and apparently I confused the game when I only dug the hole 1 time and not three times as it was requested to complete the grave. Now it shows me a prompt to leave the wheelbarrow which was missing before.

Ever since the first trailer back around 2023, I've been waiting EAGERLY for this game, so getting the email with the demo link was both thrilling and heart-breaking when I read the rest of the attached message. I will ALWAYS be a fervent fan and defender of transgressive/extreme art and storytelling, and any attempt to stifle it is anathema to everything I believe in. Even if your studio must close in the wake of Steam's rejection, I hope you all will continue telling the stories YOU want to tell, without apology or self-restraint.
As far as the demo goes, it was amazing and I can't wait to see the rest of our farm visit. Will the full version have a toggle to remove the censor blur? Might as well at this point!

I have to disagree. The mosaics actually makes it apparent that this is just a game and/or movie shown in public TV therefore at least for me getting me less immersed.
Like MarkoH01 I have to disagree, the oversized mosaics just makes it look ugly, and doesn't contribute to anything. You certainly nailed the aesthetic style, the models are a tad bit on the cheap looking side, but censoring a game like this-wanting to be a Giallo? When was the last time you've seen one censoring its content, I have seen lots in my life and can't name a single one.
Considering the history and rejection on Steam, and offering it on GOG censored-a place where people reject any form of censorship in games, when there is no reason to, your sales will not exactly be stellar.
The bottom line is, reconsider and add an option to toggle it, and allow us to see your work as it was meant to, not because you had second thoughts and decided to censor and called it an 'aesthetic choice' because if it was, it would look differently to how it actually does.
This game kinda reminds me of the novel COWS, and that just alone is making me hyped to play it, i will also throw you guys a few extra dollars for the issues you're going through

Not at launch unfortunately! Maintaining Mac games has become such a hurdle ;___; (we used to build all our games on macs!). HORSES specifically has some rendering issues that won't be easy to fix. Will keep you posted if things change!

You can use Proton through Steam to play Non-Steam Games on the Deck! I do it all the time, and it seems like this game would run well on there too. If I pick it up I’ll probably play it through the TV on my Deck.

- are the keyboard and mouse controls rebindable?
- how does the game save progress?
- how many endings are there?
- to confirm, the content warnings from the website (physical violence, psychological abuse, gory imagery (mutilation, blood), depictions of slavery, physical and psychological torture, domestic abuse, sexual assault, suicide, and misogyny) are applied only to the main character and/or "horses", and there is no animal abuse depicted in the game?
- would you prefer the game to be purchased on GOG or Itch.io?
If it's helpful, I was reminded of the game's existence by the interview in Eurogamer, though I do own or have on my wishlist several of your games (I still think that using Unity for VNs is unwise).
I have purchased the game on GOG and completed it. I would like to point out that there were 2 instances of animal cruelty mentioned in the game - on Day 3, the farmer describes abuse against a dog, and on Day 5, the protagonist has to dismember and consume an animal corpse in order to progress.

In desktop mode: Download it & unpack. open Steam > add non steam game > browse and choose the exe file.
Go back to gaming mode:
On the game, option > use Proton Experimental, run the game. And it works :)

You should be able to play the game with Heroic Launcher/Lutris.
Others in GOG's forum confirmed that it's playable with it.
I already completed the game on the Steam Deck. I didn’t need those programs to install and play.

Horses is easily one of the BEST games of 2025. It’s giving John Waters’ Pink Flamingos, and it’s SO damn good.

- Controls are not rebindable unfortunately, we only have options for camera sensitivity and inverted Y.
- The game saves at the beginning of each chapter. Chapters lasts around 10/15 minutes each.
- No animal abuse, we would have mentioned it in the content warning!
- Please choose whichever platform is more comfortable and convenient for you. If you really like the game you can always gift a copy to a friend.
-I see your point about VNs! In our defense, both Mediterranea Inferno and Milky Way Prince make intense use of 3D art.
